January thank-you

A big thank-you for the big attendance on Sunday to see ‘Grow Your Own’ and thank-you for the home-made cakes that helped to raise £38.30 to keep us going beyond our grant.

The film showing included raising awareness of Manchester’s Hate Crime Report Week and more information can be found at http://www.report-it.org.uk/home and take a look at the LGF’s ‘Enough is Enough’ campaign highlighting homophobic hate crime: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6OkOxSH4_s

‘Grow Your Own’ raises many issues around community cohesion, community groups and wellbeing. The character of Kung Sang used his connection to nature and nurturing his plot to begin to rebuild his shattered life, whereas Eddie found the allotments as a source of friendship helping with his loneliness. More simple ways to improve your well-being can be found by following the link, including attending your local film club: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzxR9eLseO8

Finally, on Sunday 17th February the film showing will be themed to the Chinese New Year celebrations. More to follow soon including an after film showing discussion and social at a nearby pub...watch this space!
