Rusholme Film Club- new dates starting October

Rusholme Film Club will start back again in October:

20th October, 17th November, 15th December, 26th January, 16th February and 16th March

Thanks to members who completed the survey and we will making a few improvements including purchasing a slightly bigger screen.

Also your suggestions for film showings would be really welcome- world cinema, social history or just your favourites you would like to share!

Rusholme Film Club- coming soon!

Good news, we have secured funding from Manchester City Council's Cash Grants to continue Rusholme Film Club for another season. The grant provides funding for room-hire, a new larger screen and purchase of films.

 

The film season will run October 2013 - April 2014, monthly, 5.30-8pm:

20th October, 17th November, 15th December, 19th February, 16th March, 20th April

 

So what would you like to see? Please let me have your ideas.

 

And those that didn't make the showing of animation shorts, it turns out Brighton Grove was a great venue. Charles 'Joe' Noble spent some of his life living at 14 Brighton Grove and became Britain's oldest animator and made in 1928 he was granted a master patent for a sound cartoon film system, and in November he released the first British talking cartoon, “Orace the ‘Armonious’ Ound”, later completing the first animated sound-film commercial, “Mr York of York, Yorks”. Crafty Summer Shorts

We are applying for funding to carry-on the Film Club starting again in September which will include the cancelled showing of the ‘The Artist’- I hope everyone received a message in good time.

 

But first something different for the Summer at the Rusholme Film Club for families and adults.

 

On Sunday 16^th June, we have an eco-theme with a recycled paper sculpture craft session (4.30-6pm) followed by ‘Do The Math’- a documentary about climate change that took the US by storm. http://math.350.org/, (42 mins).

The Film Club is free, with refreshment available for a charge. It takes place at The Birch Community Centre, Brighton Grove, M14 5JT.

Rusholme Sewing Bees

Free craft and sewing class, customise and upcycle your old clothes, make gifts and toys, learn fabric printing, embroidery techniques and much more, with artist Caroline Coates.

The workshops are every Monday starting 13th May to 22nd July (exc Bank Holiday), 10am - 12 noon at Trinity House Community Resource Centre, Grove Close off Platt Lane, Rusholme, M14 5AA.

It is free, no need to book, just turn up.

Rusholme U-Decide Event- closing date 17th May 2013

Rusholme U-Decide 2013


The Rusholme U Decide Event will take place on Monday 10 June 2013 at Trinity House Community Resource Centre, Grove Close, off Platt Lane, Rusholme  M14 5AA at 6.00pm.

The U-Decide event gives the Rusholme community a chance to decide on projects they feel will benefit their community - and the Council will fund those chosen.

At this stage we are looking for project proposals to be submitted by Friday 17th May 2013.

To ensure this event is successful  we need as many projects put forward as possible. Please can you help me by putting the flyer up in focal points and circulating to all of your networks.
